Miami Dolphins running back Reggie Bush apologises to fans for dismal performance – NFL News
Miami Dolphins running back Reggie Bush has come out and accepted his failure to perform well in the team’s 3-37 defeat against Tennessee Titans in Week 10. Moreover, he has asked the fans via Twitter to forgive him.
These comments came after Bush again put up a poor show in a crucial game for the Dolphins who are currently standing at second position in American Football Conference (AFC) East with a 4-5 record. In his tweet, Bush said:
"I have to apologize to Dolphin Nation, my performance these past few weeks has been poor & I'm embarrassed right now! You guys deserve better."
Bush was benched in the first quarter by Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin after he gave away a costly fumble that led to Titans’ touchdown.
Although Bush returned in the second half, he could not affect the outcome of the game as Dolphins were already 3-31 down at that time.
The running back finished the game with four carries for 21 yards. He admitted that Philbin was right in his decision to bench him in the first half. Talking to The Miami Herald, Bush said:
“I didn’t deserve to be back in there. I fumbled the ball and I’ve had two fumbles lost this year. I have to do a better job of protecting the ball. I’ve been in this league long enough to know protecting the ball is the most important thing as a running
back.”
It was not the first time that Bush failed to perform well. In previous four games, he has carried the ball 40 times for just 138 yards and one touchdown.
Philbin indicated after the game that the team has plans to utilise other players in the running game more often. Philbin said:
“We had planned to use guys. We’d been using Daniel Thomas and we used [running back] Lamar [Miller] sparingly last week.”
Both running backs Daniel Thomas and Lamar Miller also had limited output during Week 10 game as they finished with a combined 33 rushing yards on eight attempts.
