Miami Dolphins running back Reggie Bush hopes running game will continue to thrive – NFL News
After an astounding performance by the running game in Miami Dolphins’ thrilling 24-21 victory over Seattle Seahawks in Week 12, running back Reggie Bush has shown his desire to continue performing well in coming games.
Bush was ecstatic to get the running game flourishing again with the help of fellow teammate and running back Daniel Thomas.
Both players superbly helped each other out in the 1-2 formation during the game as Dolphins put up their second-best performance of the season in terms of rushing the ball.
The team finished the game with 28 carries for 189 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Bush was on top of the rushing charts with 87 yards on just 14 carries, and a touchdown.
Talking about the Dolphins’ emphasis on rushing game, Bush said after the game on Sunday, November 25, 2012, that the running game is helped by rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill who jumps on the opportunity to give the ball to running backs. Bush said:
“As a team, as a Miami Dolphin offense, we want to be able to run the ball well. Obviously, it’s going to help Ryan out a lot, it’s going to help the receivers out a lot and we want to be able to have that balanced attack in games. Today I think was a perfect
example of that and it was the reason we were successful. You saw with some of those play-action passes, there were receivers wide open. … So the running game really affected the defence and the flow of the game.”
Ever since the start of the season, Dolphins have relied heavily on running game. Even though the team had a great start, things went downwards when Bush got injured in Week 3 overtime defeat against New York Jets.
When Bush returned to the field, he returned to form in slow pace and ended up having a mere 263 yards in the span of seven games.
With Dolphins sitting at second position in American Football Conference (AFC) East with a 5-6 record, they can certainly look at the wildcard playoff berth if the running game stays on course.
