Miami Dolphins season analysis till Week 15 – NFL Special Part 4
We have now reached the final part of the season analysis series in which we are reviewing the performance of Miami Dolphins till the Week 15 of the 2012 season.
In this edition, we will look into the performance of the Dolphins during Week 12 to Week 15.
Dolphins had a 4-6 record after Week 11. The team went into Week 12 after losing three games in a row and was under pressure to come up with goods.
Rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill was desperate to return to form after having an interception-prone performance after the bye week.
Week 12: Seattle Seahawks
Dolphins ended their losing run after getting a 24-21 victory over Seattle Seahawks in Week 12.
The running game returned to form as running backs Daniel Thomas and Reggie Bush got their name on the scoreboard with rushing touchdowns.
Bush had 14 carries for 87 yards while Thomas carried the ball nine times for 60 yards.
Tannehill also looked sharp on the field as the quarterback completed 18 out of 26 passes for 253 yards and a touchdown.
Kicker Dan Carpenter scored the winning points during the final seconds of the game to give Dolphins the victory.
Week 13: New England Patriots
Dolphins faced another big gun in Week 13 as they took on New England Patriots and things did not go very well as Patriots thumped Dolphins with a 23-16 win.
The Phins gave a good fight against the mighty Patriots. The defence kept pressure on Patriots quarterback Tom Brady that led to the player giving his least efficient performance of the 2012 season.
Brady was sacked four times during the game and finished with 24 of 40 for 238 passing yards and a touchdown.
It was not a game to remember for Tannehill either as the quarterback ended the game with 13 of 29 for 186 yards and failed to score a touchdown. Running back Reggie Bush also underperformed against the strong Patriots defence.
Week 14: San Francisco 49ers
Dolphins faced a tough opponent for second week in a row as they go head to head against San Francisco 49ers in Week 14.
The Dolphins faced difficulty in playing against the 49ers’ veterans and lost the game 13-27.
49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick continued his majestic run of form as the player completed 18 out of 23 passes for 185 yards with a passer rating of 100.2.
Tannehill ended up with meagre numbers after completing 17 out of 33 passes for 150 yards and got a single touchdown.
49ers defence forced Dolphins offence to make mistakes at regular intervals.
Week 15: Jacksonville Jaguars
In Week 15, Dolphins faced the struggling Jacksonville Jaguars. After struggling to get going in the first quarter, the Phins got going in the second and went on to win the game 24-3.
Dolphins defence was able to keep Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne and the rest of the offence out of the end zone throughout the game.
The only points Jaguars scored was through a field goal from kicker Josh Scobee in the first quarter. Henne returned to his former team and put up 221 passing yards without throwing an interception.
Tannehill got 220 passing yards and scored two touchdowns in the game.
