Miami Dolphins will wait for opportunity to sign draft QB Ryan Tannehill-NFL News
The Miami Dolphins are said to not be concerned on how the situation develops around their chances of signing draft quarterback, Ryan Tannehill, apparently waiting to capitalise on the opportunity as and if it comes by.
Although the team is very much in the race for his signing, some commentators believe they are 50-50 about going after him off the draft, which is due to be held from Thursday, April 26 to Saturday, April 28, 2012.
Local media outlets in Miami have reported that the managers are interested in taking the quarterback at the no. 8 position but it is not clear they will seriously pursue him, especially if other teams go ahead of them in the competition.
A number of analysts and game officials have rated Tannehill to be a player of higher calibre and extremely talented and if Dolphins are successful in bringing him to Miami, he can serve best to their cause.
Some of other teams that can jump on the Tannehill bandwagon are Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs, but none of their managers have shown to be flexing their muscles for the move. It will also depend on their willingness to surrender some of their
top picks in exchange for the QB.
The Jacksonville Jaguars, who have seventh overall pick, could also pursue the player.
Tannehill is the latest emergent among the top draft quarterbacks of this season. The player has received endorsement from Indianapolis Colts’ owner, Jim Irsay, who is in the market to sign the top draft prize, Andrew Luck, a Stanford College player.
Dolphins’ managers are already in trouble with the team fans over their respective decisions regarding development of the team at certain positions.
They had been criticised for not pursuing former Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback, Peyton Manning, off the free agency seriously and if they fail to sign Tannehill this time, it is going to add pressure on them.
A number of observers have accused Dolphins’ owner, Stephen Ross, of meddling into the affairs of the front office. However, the owner has categorically denied having any influence on his managers.
