Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, Dallas Mavericks, Oklahoma City Thunder-NBA Conference Finals Analysis
(Part-1)
The National Basketball Association 2010-2011 season which showcased a number of stimulating and dramatic events has finally reached its final stages. Looking at the Conference Finals, the most surprising thing about this year’s
post-season matchup is who is not playing.
The Western Conference leader San Antonio Spurs who had a dominating regular season were startlingly toppled by the eighth seeded Memphis Grizzlies in the first round. The two-time defending Champions Los Angeles Lakers tasted
the most embarrassing flavour in their commanding career when they were comprehensively swept out by the spirited Dallas Mavericks in the semi-finals. The Boston Celtics, who were also ranked as one of the most favourite teams in the beginning of the contest
failed to keep up the momentum against the brilliance of the streaking Miami Heat and ended their play-off journey in the Eastern Conference semi-finals.
What this actually means is that the legendary players of the league such as Kobe Bryant (Lakers), Kevin Garnett (Boston Celtics) and Tim Duncan (Spurs) are sitting at their home watching the remaining action.
Even Though several big teams faced the demise big-time but still there are some outstanding teams left having a number of terrific players which is a big reason for their success. Here is an overview on the Conference Finals matchups.
Eastern Conference
Chicago Bulls vs. Miami Heat
The two influential teams in the Eastern Conference Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls had an inspiring season on the court. But the team are well-equipped with the talent to dominate anyone at any point of the game. When any of these
teams are playing, it’s never over until the final buzzer of the game.
The Heat finished the regular season with the second seed followed by 58 victories and 24 defeats in the East which was the third best record overall in the league. The formidable play assembled by the invincible trio LeBron James,
Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh marshalled Miami convincingly to thrash the reeling Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the post-season. Even against the strong-willed Boston Celtics in the semi-finals, the big 3 showed no signs of retreat and crushed Paul-Pierce’s
line-up commandingly.
On the Other hand, the Chicago Bulls turned into an unyielding squad under the brilliance of their sharp shooter Derrick Rose. The Bulls finished the regular season with the best record in NBA followed by 62 victories and carried
the action tremendously into the play-offs.
After defeating the Indiana Pacers in the first round, the Bulls struggled against the Atlanta Hawks in the beginning of the best-of-seven semi-final series. However Chicago made a dominating comeback and thrashed the play-off
hopes for Atlanta in the game 6 and raced away into the Finals.
The Bulls won the game 1 comprehensively against the Miami Heat in third round as the prolific forward James took the Heat on Wednesday night and spearheaded his team magnificently in the second game of the series to tie the contest
1-1.
Now, the question is who will be the Eastern Conference winner. Chicago is stronger on the defence that can restrict any offensive team to score flawlessly. While Heat’s superstar trio carries a powerful offence that can outperform
any kind of defence. So it will be a breathtaking contest between the offensive and defensive powers and a team that will be at its best on the given day will be the frontrunner.
