Big Three erupt as Miami break free late in the period to seal the series and an appearance in the NBA Finals for a second year running
The frantic end-to-end play continued in the first four minutes of the last quarter with the game seeing eight lead changes.
A LeBron James dunk with 7:59 to play, put Miami up by 83-82. This was the last time Miami had to take a lead and a Chris Bosh three on the next possession brought to an end a staggering 47 possession sequence in which neither
team led by more than two.
Bosh’s perimeter shooting forced Kevin Garnett to concentrate on guarding him and that took a toll on the Boston defence. James capitalized immediately by hitting a duece and after Bass responded with a jumper to make it 84-88;
LeBron hit 31-footer to start the beginning of the end for the Celtics.
Rondo tried to keep the game alive with a layup, but a Bosh jumper and five straight points from Dwyane Wade really sealed the deal for Miami, who eventually won 101-88.
There where emotional scenes witnessed near the end of the game. With just seconds left, Rivers pulled out his Big Three as the Miami crowd stood in ovation. Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen are restricted free agents this summer and
Game-7 might be the last time, the trio of Pierce, Garnett and Allen are seen together.
Pierce, Garnett and Rondo left the court before the game finished, but Allen stayed there to congratulate the Heat. The most moving scene perhaps came when James hugged Rivers tight and the two had a long conversation. Doc later
said, that he told LeBron to go and win it all.
James scored 10 points in the last frame, to finish off with 30 points and 12 rebounds; 31 points and 12 rebounds; Dwyane Wade had 9 of his 23 points in the last 12 minutes. He also had six rebounds and six assists while Chris
Bosh added 8 points.
Rondo scored 6 points in the fourth quarter and finished with triple-double figures with 22 points, 14 dimes and 10 boards. Paul Pierce had 19 points for the Celtics, with two coming in the last frame.
