Rajon Rondo leads as Boston Celtics hold a six point edge over the Miami Heat in the Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals
After being handed a 14 point defeat at the hands of the Miami Heat in Game 1, the Boston Celtics started fresh in Game -2 and held a 24-18 lead after the first quarter as they looked to even up this Eastern Conference Finals series.
Rajon Rondo was instrumental in the opening 12 minutes of the ball game as he racked up 8 points. He was also able to dish out 4 assists and collect 2 rebounds. Paul Pierce also had a great start to the game with 8 points.
Brandon Bass racked up 4 points but did most of his work in the rebounding department to collect 6 rebounds. Kevin Garnett, who was the forefront of the Boston offence in Game 1 of the series, could only manage 2 points.
The lack of productivity on the offensive end for Ray Allen was eminent again after the opening period as he did not even lodge a single attempt at the basket. However he did contribute by collecting three defensive boards.
The Miami effort was led by LeBron James who had 6 points to his name. Dwyane Wade failed to open his scoring account in the first 12 minutes. Shane Battier was able to collect 3 points while Mike Miller and James Jones came off
the bench to manage 2 and 3 points respectively. Ronny Turiaf also managed a deuce till the first quarter.
The main reason for the Boston dominance in the game after the opening quarter was their good ball movement. The C’s only committed just one turnover in the frame and after a 5-of-11 start from the floor; they were able convert
possession into baskets on every occasion.
From a Miami point of view, it was not the kind of start they would have wanted as they only connected on 6 of their 23 attempts and found it difficult to breach the Celtics D. The C’s came out in this with all together a different
intensity as compared to game one and the best thing happening for them was Rondo knocking down jumpers at a canter.
