Rajon Rondo fashions Boston’s dominance till half time; Wade finally scores on Miami’s last possession
The second quarter of Game 2 in the Eastern Conference Finals between the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics saw both sides go head to head with each other in every aspect of the game.
However a good start to the game allowed the Boston team to be leading 53-46 at the halfway stage.
Rajon Rondo continued to rumble and led the Boston team with 22 points and 7 assists to his name. Ray Allen who did not attempt a single field goal in the opening period went 3 of 3 from the field in the second and knocked down
a technical free throw to manage 7 points at the half.
Paul Pierce slowed down in the second period and could only manage 2 points. Two other players for the Celtics managed only 2 points in the second quarter, Brandon Bass getting two points from the charity stripe and Kevin Garnett.
Miami were surprisingly paced by Mario Chalmers in the second quarter. Rio had a standout second quarter, scoring 12 points to take his game tally to 14.
LeBron James managed to get 7 points in the second; however the other star of Miami, Dwyane Wade only had 2 points at the halfway stage. Shane Battier managed to chip in with 6 points till the break while Mike Miller had 4 points
to his name.
Leading by six entering into the frame, Boston looked to turn the game completely in their favour as they started out with a 12-3 run. However, Chalmers put an end to that scoring rally by hitting a triple to get things going for
Miami. Then with the scores at 47-32 and only four minutes remaining in the half, he knocked down a three pointer to start an 11-2 run which he finished with another downtown dagger, making it a six point game.
Miami were able to stay close in the contest courtesy of three-point shooting. The managed to knock down 4 of their triple point 7 attempts from beyond the arc in the frame, to stay within a striking range at the half.
