The third quarter of Game 5 in the NBA Finals saw the Miami Heat stomp their authority as they blew out Oklahoma City Thunder 36-22 to take a huge 95-71 lead in the game.
Chris Bosh really got going in the period by chipping in 12 points to take his total to 22 for the game. He also contributed his share in Miami`s impressive long range exploits by hitting a three pointer at the 3:29 mark.
LeBron James playing for his first ever championship crossed the double-double mark in the period to take his tally 19 points and 11 assists while Dwyane Wade mustered 4 points in the quarter.
The three All-Stars for Miami were not the only people busy putting an exclamation mark over the game; role players of Heat also had their say in the quarter. Shane Battier had a good frame with 6 points while Mario Chalmers took
his total to 10 points and 7 assists for the game.
Mike Miller continued his impressive shooting from long range, improving to 5 of 5 from the three point line and also got the final 2 points in the period by knocking down both free throws.
While the Heat were playing their best game in the series so far, the struggles for Oklahoma City reached a brand new level. Only three players for OKC got on the score sheet in the period highlighting the difficulties they faced
against a tough Miami defence.
Kevin Durant managed to get 12 points in the period and Russell Westbrook chipped in 6 points. Serge Ibaka was the only other player for Thunder scoring in the period. He took his total to 9 points for the game.
Thunder had several scoreless droughts in the period with the biggest one coming from the 6:46 mark till 2:47 remaining to the close of the third quarter.
In that span, OKC missed all 7 of their field goal attempts and Derek Fisher was slapped with a flagrant-1 for blatantly trying to stop James from getting to the basket. Several other spans like this held the Thunder from ever
really having a chance to make their way back into the game.
