Miami Heat Big Three play big to secure overtime victory against Milwaukee Bucks – NBA Recap
The Miami Heat were given a tough competition from the travelling Milwaukee Bucks here at the American Airlines Arena on Wednesday night, but showed poise near the end to secure a 113-106 overtime victory over the visitors. Miami
got off to a good start but the Bucks fought back in the second period to come back into the game. The game was even from there on and the Heat only managed to escape with the victory in overtime. LeBron James led Miami with 28 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists,
whereas Dwyane Wade also finished with 28 points and 4 assists. Brandon Jennings was the scoring leader for the Bucks, finishing with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. John Henson added 17 points and 18 rebounds off the bench for the Bucks.
Milwaukee scored the first four points of the game but Miami came back with an 8-0 run to take an 8-4 lead. A free throw by Chalmers started a 13-0 run for the Heat, helping them extend their lead to 27-13. Milwaukee missed ten
straight field goal attempts which allowed the Heat to take the lead, and finished the period trailing 15-29. Bosh scored the first four points of the second period to extend Miami’s lead to 33-15. Mike Dunleavy then scored a three for the Bucks followed by
a jump shot by Beno Udrih as the Bucks trailed 28-41. The Bucks later went on a 13-0 run themselves to cut into Miami’s lead and trail 41-44. Miami led 46-44 at the half time break.
A three pointer by Jennings followed by a jump shot by Harris early in the third period tied the game at 51, but Miami again took the lead through back to back field goals by Wade. Wade later scored back to back dunks and James
followed with a driving finger roll as the Heat led 66-60. The Bucks responded with a 9-0 run and had a 73-71 lead at the end of the third period. A three pointer by Bosh early in the final period tied the game at 78, but Dunleavy scored a layup and put the
Bucks up 89-83. Miami came back with a 10-0 run capped off by a three pointer by Ray Allen to put them ahead 94-91, and a clutch layup by James with 26.9 seconds left in the game tied the score at 98. Both teams missed their game winning attempts and the match
went into overtime.
Miami started the overtime period with 6 straight points to take an early 104-98 lead. Allen then hit a three pointer and the Heat were up 109-100. Miami held on from there and eventually won the game 113-106.
The Heat outrebounded the Bucks 54-47, and had 21 more free throw attempts than their opponents. They also shot much better from three point range, although both teams were similarly successful from the field. Chris Bosh added
24 points and 18 rebounds for the Heat, where as Dunleavy scored 16 points off the bench for the Bucks.
