Miami Heat: LeBron James or Dwyane Wade – Who is the leader of the pack? NBA Feature (Part-1)
In the last year’s pre season, with Dwyane Wade on the roster, the Miami Heat acquired star free agents Chris Bosh and LeBron James to form one of the most potent combinations, the league had witnessed for quite some time. There
were extraordinarily high expectations from the new line up even before the season started. NBA analysts and fans predicted and the star troika claimed (rather infamously) that the merger of three of the biggest superstars in the league will beckon the start
of a new era and Miami will go on to win multiple championships in the years to come.
The legacy that the Big Three of James, Wade and Bosh had promised was on the cusp of fulfilment early in June, when the Miami Heat entered the NBA Finals as the favourites to lift the Larry O’Brien trophy against the Dallas Mavericks.
However, the south beach franchise failed to cross the last hurdle in their path towards glory and went down against the brilliance of Dirk Nowitzki and the team work and grit of the Dallas Mavericks.
Although the ending of the season was bitter, overall the season was successful for Miami. The chemistry and co-ordination gradually developed among the three stars and the teams that started with a 9-8 record eventually ended
up marking 58 wins in the regular season. Heat finished on top of Southeast Division in the season and were ranked second in the East by the time, the playoffs started.
In the season, especially in the playoffs, there were a lot of question raised about who is really the alpha dog in the Heat outfit. Bosh is no doubt a super star and one of the best power forwards in the league, but he is no match
when it comes to James and Wade. He showed shades of brilliance right throughout the season, but when it comes to the ultimate leader, competition is really between James and Wade only.
With James being a superior all-round player, many analysts have an inclination to go with as the face of the Heat.
However, it is still not possible to point out a single superstar among James and Wade, one to whom this team belongs. Basketball is always about the team and together, the duo showed last season that they know how to overcome
all the hurdles. The newly created team remained patient over a rough start and later proved that they are capable of achieving their goals despite being faced by all the opposition and hate.
