Miami Heat - NBA Teams that have made huge strides in the off season – Opinion (Part 1)
The summer of 2012 saw many NBA team taking huge steps towards strengthening, and in some cases, completely refurbishing their roster.
The off season saw Ray Allen end his association with the Boston Celtics and head to the South Beach. It also saw Deron Williams re-sign with the Nets and a four team trade in which the Los Angeles Lakers somehow managed to retain
Pau Gasol, while getting an upgrade for Andrew Bynum, in the form of Dwight Howard.
There have been similar success stories and in this piece, we will rate the six teams with most successful off seasons;
6. Miami Heat
This may sound a bit of an overstatement, but by getting Ray Allen alone, the Miami Heat have done enough to make a cut in this list.
Although not the phenom he used to be in his heydays, Allen is still one of best sharp shooters of the present age, not to mention that he is the best three point shooter of all times. The inclusion of Allen is a huge shot in the
arm of an already potent Miami Heat shooting brigade. Mike Miller, Shane Battier and James Jones showed us last season what they can do from the long range, and with the addition of Allen, Heat have further strengthen their small ball system.
Allen was not the only notable inclusion in the Heat roster. Pat Riley also managed to add Rashard Lewis, a long time team mate of Allen and a man who is fourth on the list of all time three point shooters. The forward has been
struggling to find his groove in the last three to four season, mainly because of injuries, but all the early pre season indicators point to the fact that he has overcome the fitness issues.
The addition of the two veterans will allow a lot more space for the Big Three, especially LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. Even the thought of that scenario is enough to send chills down the spine of oppositions.
Although Miami added a lot of steel to the back court, they failed to add reinforcements up front. The team is still thin on the centre position and in all likelihood; Chris Bosh will have to hold that fort for majority of next
season.
