Miami Heat VS Indiana Pacers: NBA Preview
Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers will be confronting each other at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Indianapolis on February the 14th.
The teams will be facing each other for the second time in this NBA season - the visiting Miami had beaten the Pacers earlier in the season with a phenomenal 118-83 win on 4th of January.
Miami is currently on a three game winning streak after winning the last three games with an average margin of 18.3 points.
They are currently placed at the 2nd position in the Eastern Conference with 22 wins and 7 defeats in this shortened season, they will surely prove to be a hard nut to crack for Pacers. Especially after the recovery
of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade and with their unbeatable track record this upcoming match can be envisaged as one sided affair.
One of the most recent endeavours was Heat’s 114-96 triumph over the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday. LeBron James was on fire in that game as he netted 35 and matched his season high 16 field goals. Moreover with 28.2 points per game
and 8.20 rebounds average in this season, he is feared as the worst nightmare for any defence.
LeBron James though decided to focus on the team,
"(We're) just playing good ball," he said. "It's not about one guy. Everyone is in a flow. When we're in a flow, we're a really good team."
Along with James, Dwyane Wade is another towering personality in the Heat. He has been equally impressive especially in the last game against Atlanta Hawks in which he led his team with 21 points to a 107-87 win.
With 22.2 points and 4.10 rebounds per game average in this season he is also a very talented player with capability to score at any time.
On the contrary Indiana Pacers are on a 3 game losing streak currently, the most recent defeat was from Denver Nuggets last Saturday. Nuggets won the game by 113-109 margin.
Pacers’ Danny Granger is averaging around 18.6 and 4.70 rebounds per game while David West’s averages in this season stand at 12.4 points and 6.90 rebounds per game. These would probably be the two players with the most responsibility
on offence while centre Roy Hibbert will be relied upon as the defensive lynchpin.
Coach Frank Vogel commented on the future strategy as,
"(We have to) focus on the task at hand. That's the only approach you can have to get back on the winning track,” You have won game to win and that's the only thing that matters. Nothing in the past matters, nothing in the future
matters. We've got to just focus on the task at hand and try to get a W."
It is always a treat for the fans to see James in action but Pacers fans shouldn’t expect much from the team as the result might be against their expectations.
