Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls wins: 2011 NBA Playoffs Game 2 Round-up (Part 1)
Miami Heat 94 – Philadelphia 76ers 73
Lebron James outplayed all five starters of the Philadelphia 76cers in the first-half of the game and nailed 29 points while his team-mate Chris Bosh made his second straight double-double with 21 points and 11 boards.
As the Heat went up 2-0 in the series with a 94-73 win over the lowly Philadelphia shooters. This was the Sixers’ second-lowest total of the playoffs in 56 years. Philadelphia, who shot over 60 percent in Game 1 were restricted to just 34 on Monday.
Dwyane Wade, who was battling with a migraine on Sunday, showed no signs of illness in Game 2 and spent 34 minutes on the court and made 14 points for the Heat.
All five Philadelphia starters failed to reach the double-digit mark until 3:49 were left in the third quarter, when the point guard Jrue Holiday hit a three-pointer to reach 10 points. By then James reached 23, Bosh was on 15 and Wade had 12 points and
the Heat were in complete command with a 68-50 lead.
The Heat went on to stretch their lead and at one stage they were 28 points ahead. The frustrated Sixers got a technical at 1:56 in the fourth quarter but failed to make it count and the final buzzer saw Miami holding a 91-67 lead.
Evan Turner led the Sixers with 15 points and six rebounds off the bench, while Thaddeus Young scored 18 points.
Chicago Bulls 96 – Indiana Pacers 90
Derrick Rose made 36 points and Carlos Boozer hit a double-double to lift the top-seeded Chicago Bulls over Indiana in a dramatic win, as they defeated the Pacers 96-90 at United Centre on Monday night.
Both teams went head to head in the first quarter until the 1:32, when Darren Collison and Tyler Hansbrough put the Pacers in front by hitting two free throws and a jumper respectively. The Pacers carried the same momentum into the second quarter and led
the Bulls 47-44 at half-time.
The Pacers guided the Bulls for most part of the third quarter but the Bulls launched a furious assault that knotted the scores at 49 all. Soon after, Rose hit a three-pointer to give them a 52-49 lead. The Bulls stretched their lead to 59-52, before the
Pacers made a 7-2 run to tie the scores 67-67, at the end of the third frame.
The battle for supremacy continued in the fourth, as the scores tied on four occasions and the lead changed twice. The Bulls took the final lead half-way in the quarter with Rose’s hitting two successive free throws and then guided Chicago to victory.
Boozer made 17 points and 16 rebounds to reach his double-double. "It's always good to win in this league," Rose said. "It's very hard to win. But the way that we're winning, we're just trying to sharpen up things especially on the defensive end so that
we can control the game more instead of us having to play crazy at the end of the game."
Danny Granger led the Pacers attack with 19 points along with two rebounds, four assists and three steals.
