Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks competing in the closest NBA Finals ever – NBA Special (Part 1)
National Basketball Association Finals are well on its way and the two best sides of the Eastern and Western Conference, Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks are battling hard to lift the title. With every NBA Finals, fans are always
anticipating thrilling and close encounters as two top teams compete for the championship.
However, it rarely happens that NBA Finals remain very close and even some times much anticipated games ended up as blowouts. In the previous playoffs finals all seven games were played and the last game decided the winner. The
finale game was the closest of all as the victory margin was just four points. The finale witnessed a fourth quarter comeback, but besides this rest of the games was won by good margins.
The previous season finals also witnessed a 22-point blowout game and none of the other six games went down till the end of the wire or decided on last possession. However, this year the story is completely different as the finals
are as competitive as it can get.
At the moment, the series is two all and except for game-1 the remaining three contests went till the last possession. The proximity of the games can be judged from these victory margins. In game-2 and 3 differentials were of two
points, while in game-4 it was three. Up till now the total differential in four games is 15 points (game-1 was won by eight point margin). These results have made this series one of the most cut-throat finals in the recent times gone by. The fans eventually
got the dose they were praying for.
None of the NBA Finals remained this close since the 2-3-2 system was first introduced in the league, 26 years ago.
In game-1 Dallas gave Miami a real tough time in the first half of the game, but the Heat, who were within the range, rushed back in the second half as they secured the third quarter by four points and later had a dominated final
12 minutes of the game.
The Heat used an 11-6 run and stretched their lead to 85-75 in the fourth quarter, Dwyane Wade led the rally with four points in which he hit a whooshing three pointer too. After this spurt the Mavs started fading away and the
Heat went on to register their first win of the finals.
After the Miami’s first win many strongly believed that the Heat is going to toast the Mavs in the remaining game of the finals, however, Dallas had other plans.
The game-2 witnessed another belligerent first half as the scores remained tied and both teams failed to lead each other into the halftime.
The Heat were finally able to make a break-through in the third quarter and outscored the Mavs with a 12-4 surge that pushed their advantage to 71-61 with 3:01 minutes left in the period, before Miami led Dallas by 75-71 in the
fourth quarter.
Wade made possessions in the early minutes of the final quarter and the Heat quickly raced to an 88-73 advantage, before the Mavs bounced back in the game with their 22-5 burst that outgunned Miami. Nowitzki made the game winning
layup with just three seconds to go in the game. Miami still had the chance to win the game, but Wade missed the three-pointer from 28-foot with one second remaining.
