Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks competing in the closest NBA Finals ever – NBA Special (Part 2)
With the series tied 1-1 after two games, both teams geared up for the third encounter. Both were looking to win game-3 so they can put the other side under pressure.
Miami looked pretty aggressive in the first quarter, as if they were insulted in game-2. The Heat were on the right path from the tip of the first period, after having a little setback in the midway Miami made the charge as LeBron
James gave them the go ahead shot, with almost three minutes left in the quarter making it 20-19 and then used a 9-3 surge to secure the frame.
The Heat carried the same momentum in the second quarter as well and led the Mavs by 47-42 in the halftime.
The Mavs, who were looking tired, came out charged from the lockers after the break and shed their tiredness as they knotted the scores 57 all with almost half way to go in the quarter, before the Heat quickly nipped their surge
and finished the quarter ahead of Dallas.
The Mavs, who failed to secure even a single quarter in the entire game, didn’t lose hope and tried to catch up Miami once again with some strong surges in the fourth quarter. Though Dallas made a good effort to tie the scores,
but once again they failed to make the best of the opportunity, as Dirk Nowitzki fumbled in the ensuing seconds of the game and Miami clinched a key victory with a meagre margin of two points.
After putting the Mavs into 2-1 hole the Heat gazed their eyes on game-4, to put the further stress on Dallas with another win. Dallas on the other hand has a lot of determination and they decided not to go down without a fight.
That resolve also depicted in their game, when they came to face the Heat in game-4 of the NBA Finals. Like the first two games the first quarter remained tied as both the teams tallied 21 points. The battle got more intense with
the start of the second quarter, as the ball swung widely from one end to the other end. However, it was Miami, who came out as the victors of the second frame as they led the Mavs by two points at the halftime.
The battle continued after the break as none of the team wanted to lose the momentum, before the Heat eventually made the break through and secured another quarter in their favour.
Miami, who were looking in commanding position at the beginning of the final quarter, extended their lead to nine points in the early minutes of the frame. Before Nowitzki and company made the possession and snatched the lead from
the Heat by using an 11-2 surge that pushed their score to 80-78. From there on wards the Mavs didn’t give away the lead and sealed the game by three-point margin. Miami had a chance to tie the game and pushed it into overtime, when Mike Miller missed a crucial
three-pointer with just nine seconds to go in the game.
With Dallas making another come back in the best of the seven game series after a thrilling finish, Miami will be looking to come with a new strategy so they wrap up the Mavs, otherwise they will have slim chances to win the championship.
The fans are now expecting more, but there are only 14 NBA Finals in which the differential was below 10 points per game and the last four finals have an average of almost 6 points in each game. Still the competitiveness and the
thrill that was witnessed in the current finals were never seen before and the proof of this is the current ratings which are higher than ever. However, there are still few games left in the series, so it will be remains to be seen how it will end up, as a
blow out in any upcoming game can skew the differential stats.
