Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs win: NBA play-offs roundup April 27, 2011 (Part -1)
Miami Heat 97 – Philadelphia 76ers 91
At the American Airlines Arena on Wednesday night, the Miami Heat thrashed the Philadelphia 76ers to a first round exit after an enthralling 97-91 victory.
All-Star Dywane Wade racked up a game-high 26 points and gathered 11 rebounds as the Heat captured the best-of-seven-game series 4-1. Chris Bosh supported the veteran guard with 22 points and 11 rebounds to put Miami on the frontline.
Elton Brand and Andre Iguodala posted an impressive performance for Sixers and combined for 44 points however the Heat’s duo displayed a better play.
Philadelphia headed out aggressively and romped to a 20-10 run in the preliminary minutes seven minutes of the first quarter. However, Heat retorted with three scorching blows from beyond the arc to snatch the lead 27-23 with the
end of the period.
Louis Williams layup shot followed by Iguodala’s dunk tied the game 27-27 early in the second quarter. Wade and Bosh landed a number of free throws and jumpers as the home team procured a 45-42 advantage as the game progressed
into the first half.
Both the teams assailed dominantly with a series of long distance shot, jumpers and dunk shots in the third quarter when Jodie Meeks buried a free throw to reclaim the lead 61-60 for the Sixers. However, LeBron James and Mario
Chalmers landed tow blistering 3-pointers as the Heat sealed 72-67 lead.
Wade took the charge forcefully in the final 12 minutes and scored 12 points of his 26 to spearhead the Miami Heat for an electrifying victory.
San Antonio Spurs 110 – Memphis Grizzlies 103
The San Antonio Spurs avoided the first round elimination to the eighth seeded Memphis Grizzlies in a breathtaking 110-103 overtime win at the AT&T Centre on Wednesday night. Manu Ginobili notched up a game-high 33 points and handed
out 6 assists to lead the Spurs for a thrilling win and trimmed down the Grizzlies best-of-7 series lead to 3-2.
Zach Randolph had another top scoring performance and guided his team impressively however the Memphis failed to keep up down the stretch and was defeated in the extra five minutes.
Tim Duncan lifted the momentum for the Spurs in the first quarter and scored 11 points as the home team managed to grab 20-14 lead. Ginobili went invincible in the second quarter and thrashed the Grizzlies with 15 points including
three scorching blows from downtown and the Spurs wrapped up a comprehensive 50-42 advantage going into the halftime.
