Miami Heat comeback from 14 points down to beat Brooklyn Nets 102-89: NBA Recap
Miami Heat rallied in the second half to beat Brooklyn Nets 102-89 here at AmericanAirlines Arena on Saturday night.
Dwayne Wade scored a season high 34 points and dished out 7 assists, going 14 out of 20 from the floor. LeBron James was hot as ever and finished off with 21 points 9 rebounds and 6 assists while Ray Allen came off the bench to
add 13 points for the night.
Andray Blatche led the Nets with 20 points and 8 rebounds, Deron Williams had a double-double with 10 points and 12 assists while Gerald Wallace finished off with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the Nets, who are holding its opponents
to the second-fewest points per game this season (91.1).
The Nets led for the entire first half and did not allow Heat to go ahead up until the third period. Miami got hot in the third quarter as they outscored the Nets 32-19 to snatch back the lead. Brooklyn could not get ahead again
as Heat kept the momentum going in the fourth period to extend their winning streak over the Nets to 12 straight games.
"This was a step forward game for us. It was good to see our guys connected again. We didn't necessarily play great basketball in the first half but in the some ways this was our best win. This was our best game in terms of connection,
communication and commitment to each other." Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said after the win.
Brooklyn started the game sharply; an 11-0 run put them up by 15-4. Wade made a layup to reduce the deficit down to 11-17 before the Nets scored five more to push their lead to 22-11. Brooklyn were leading 24-16 by the end of the
period.
Two C.J. Watson free throws opened up a 14 point advantage for the Nets on 35-21 early in the second quarter, their highest lead of the game. The Heat started slashing the deficit and a 7 point burst by them made it a 5 point game
on 40-45. The Nets however kept up the scoring and were up 59-50 when they went into the locker room.
Heat got hot in the third period and a Wade shot from behind the arc early reduced the deficit down to 61-66. Later on, a 10-0 run capped off by a James dunk put them up 75-73 as the Heat went ahead for the first time in the game.
They pushed their advantage to 82-78 by the end of the quarter.
Heat kicked off the final period with a 10-3 run to take control of the game on 92-81. There was no looking back after and when Ray Allen slammed one home from downtown to push their lead to 97-85 it was game over.
