Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh goes down with a
lower abdominal injury in Game 1: NBA Playoffs Update
On Sunday night the Miami Heat faced off against the Indiana Pacers in Game 1 of this second round Eastern Conference series which they eventually won 95-86. However it did not come without a setback to their
current line up.
With 1:06 remaining in the first half, Chris Bosh drove to the basket for a dunk and got fouled on the play by Roy Hibbert. Even though, Bosh did manage to knock down the free throw making the score 42-48 with
Miami trailing, but the big man was in agonizing pain.
He only lasted a few more seconds in the ball game going down the other way while grabbing his midsection. He tried his best to guard Hibbert on the defensive end but his body failed to cooperate with him. Bosh
went down on his knees in obvious discomfort and had to leave the game immediately to get further assistance.
News from the locker room is that Bosh is suffering from what appears to be lower abdominal strain and has to undergo an MRI to determine the extent of his injury. Heat head Coach, Erik Spoelstra, was unsure
himself to what Bosh was experiencing;
“He was in a little bit of pain going into the locker room," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "We won't know until we get an MRI."
After going out the way he did, Bosh did not return to finish out the rest of the game and Joel Anthony and Ronny Turiaf picked up the slack. Before departing, Bosh had managed his way to 13 points on a 6 off
11 shooting night with the last three of those points coming on the play that got him injured.
There is yet no word on how much time it would take for him to recover from this injury. Bosh was averaging around 15 points per game in the first round 4-1 victory over the New York Knicks and had only missed
9 games in the 66-game regular-season, 3 of them courtesy of a family problem and 6 of them due to a hamstring injury in the final stages of the season.
