Chris Bosh ruled out indefinitely; Will miss the series against Indiana Pacers – NBA Update
Reports of a recently conducted MRI have revealed that the Miami Heat power forward Chris Bosh is suffering from a lower abdominal strain, which has ruled him out of the Eastern Conference Semi Final series against the Indiana
Pacers, indefinitely.
Bosh got himself injured in the second quarter while driving to the basket for a dunk and getting hammered on the play by Roy Hibbert. He then failed to jump while guarding Hibbert on the glass and left, taking no further part
in the contest.
Miami management believes that Bosh will be able to come back in the playoffs, if not in this series, then in the next round.
There is still not particular date set up for his return and there have been no comments regarding the amount of time it is going to take for him to recover, however such injuries usually rule out players for 2 to 4 weeks depending
on the level of damage. The fact still remains that having no particular time period for recovery does depict that the injury is not a minor one.
Heat head coach, Erick Spoelstra was relieved to find out that Bosh did not suffer a complete tear, which would have meant that the player would be out for the rest of the season. As the current situation stands, Spoelstra is hopeful
of a healthy return.
"We're looking at that as good news, it could've been much worse," Spoelstra said.
When Bosh suffered the injury in Game 1, Spoelstra had to increase the amount of minutes; LeBron James got on the court. He was able to fill in the power forward position in the fourth quarter erupting for 16 points in that frame
to change the game.
As dynamic and versatile Miami is they would still have to weigh in their options before Game 2 and some of the bench players like Ronny Turiaf and Udonis Haslem will see a lot of extra playing time in the Bosh`s absence.
On the other hand, Indiana cannot be over confident about the fact that Bosh is injured because of the fact that James and Dwyane Wade can still hurt their team in so many other ways, much like the way they did in Game 1.
Indiana’s coach Frank Vogel has come out to say that the Pacers are not going to change their approach because of the injury to Bosh as this Miami teams possesses other major weapons in LeBron and Wade;
"Our plan isn't going to change dramatically; With Bosh in the lineup we understand LeBron and Wade are major threats. With him out of the lineups we understand they're major threats. There's not a lot of differences in how you're
going to approach the game. Obviously it helps [us] not having Bosh's scoring ability out there but they have other guys."
