Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh says he has moved on from NBA Finals defeat
Chris Bosh said Saturday that he has moved on from the defeat suffered at the hands of the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals just around 3 months ago. Bosh was part of the Miami Heat side that went into the Finals as the favourites
but came out on the wrong end of a 4 – 2 drubbing by the Mavs.
Miami, with their Big Three of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, looked destined to win the NBA World Championship from the start of the season. The star cast assembled at South Beach fought their way through a tough season
and then smashed opposing teams in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
After dispatching of league toping Chicago Bulls as well as the traditional power house in the shape of Boston Celtics, Miami were rightly considered favourites to trump the Mavs for the NBA crown.
However a veteran, gritty Mavericks side, led by their indomitable German star, Dirk Nowitzki, got the better of Miami in 6 games. The series was a thrilling spectacle for the NBA fans but left the Miami Heat players physically
battered and emotionally scarred.
Bosh was believed to have taken the loss a bit worse than the others, but the player said in the interview that he got the disappointment out of his system early. He wasn’t carrying that baggage anymore and only reminded himself
of the loss in order to get fired up for future challenges.
"There's no reason to hold on to it," Bosh said. "The only reason I hold on to it is when I need motivation. But other than that, it happened and there's really no emotional attachment for me. I let all that out within 24 hours
after I was done. It's nothing I hang on. I talked about everything. I talked about it until I was blue in the face. And then once you do that, you just realize you have to move forward."
The power forward, who came to play as part of an elite unit after years of being a big fish in a small pond with the Toronto Raptors, expressed his optimism for the future of Miami.
Indeed many analysts believe that the Heat can only get stronger from last season, which does not make for good listening if you are not a Miami fan. The Heat already boast the most talented roster in the NBA with dominating players
such as Dwyane Wade and two-times NBA MVP LeBron James.
The fact that those players have now played together for a year, been through a lot of tough times and will be better for the experience is a scary thought for the rest of the league.
