Miami Heat need to upgrade their supporting cast in the next season – NBA Special Report
One of the biggest concerns that remained for the runner ups Miami Heat throughout the 2010-2011 play-offs was the lack of support from the supporting cast of the team. Miami’s Big three LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh
have been running the offensive and defensive system of the team as most of the time; the presence of the remaining players didn’t make much of a difference.
After being eliminated from the race of the Championship title in the game-6 of the NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks, Miami definitely will be eyeing to upgrade their supporting cast for the superstars.
"It's like a puzzle and their pieces came together a little bit better than ours. Eventually we're going to build it. It just didn't happen this year." Wade said.
Here are few things Miami must look forward to bring a considerable impact in the line-up.
A parameter defender
One of the strongest aspects of the Dallas Mavericks dominating game-pay against Miami was their untiring long distance assail which kept them on the frontline. The Miami Heat needs a better parameter defender to watch out for
the heavy lifting which will enable James and Wade to stimulate the offensive play even better.
The Mavericks made a number of startling comebacks down the stretch during the NBA Finals series as they commanded the proceedings from beyond the foul circle area which hampered the Heat from maintaining control. Things would
have been different in the series if Miami had someone more skilled as a parameter defender to restrict the streaking Mavericks.
Agility on the guarding position
In order to provide some support down the stretch to the influential trio, Miami needs some agility and versatility on the guarding position like Derrick Rose, J.J. Barea and Rajon Rondo. With James struggling against Mavericks,
Wade was more busy in providing fireworks on the front court however Dallas crushed Dwyane’s super efforts by breaking into their skimpy defensive system. A player who can uphold the performance of the superstars by limiting the opposition from taking control
is the answer for Miami’s consistency.
A 3-point Shooter
With the arrival of Mike Bibby just before the play-offs, it was anticipated that Miami’s assail from beyond the arc will be strengthened. However, Bibby failed to impress with his long distance shooting in Miami. He was started
for the team in the beginning of the post-season as a point guard however the 25-year-old Mario Chalmers finished the role for the Heat.
Miami Heat needs a prolific shooter who can power the team from downtown and bring the line-up back into the contention during the crunch time.
