Miami Heat on high alert for Carmelo Anthony - NBA Update
New York Knicks might be worried for Amare Stoudemire but Miami Heat are on an alert for Carmelo Anthony. Melo posed a serious threat for Heat in the past 2 games. He collected 30 points and 9 rebounds in the 2nd game and tallied
11 points to go with 10 boards in the game 1st though Knicks had to face fiasco in both.
Melo is lethal in the post areas and if he gets the ball there his performance manifolds. It has been proven that in the post he can not only score but pass out of double teams. But he fails to surpass double teams from the three
point line. This means that he performs better in the absence of Stoudmire.
In this shortened season there were 15 games in which Anthony got a chance to perform without Stoudemire and he averaged 30.4 points in those games.
Things can be different in the 3rd match of post season series with Heat. With Knicks’ 2nd lead scorer sidelined due to injury Heat are aware of the fact that they will have to deal with a vibrant Anthony
playing in an improved perimeter game.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said that during their previous regular season encounters with Knicks they have acquired the insight to deal with their perimeter game.
"We prepared for a lot of that the last regular-season game,"
Knicks are maimed after the stunt pulled by Stoudemire, he had a surgery on his left hand on Tuesday; he punched the glass in the fire extinguisher box to water down his emotions after the defeat, he thought that he was punching
the wall in a fit of anger.
“Everybody gets upset. You're so passionate for the game. Everyone gets upset at times, but never in a million years did I think that I would actually cut my hand the way I did it," Stoudemire said. "So, bad timing, but I'll be
back."
Stoudemire’s participation in the upcoming 3rd and 4th game is under the clouds of doubt and that makes Knicks’ more vulnerable (or not). They are already playing without Jeremy Lin and Iman Shumpert.
Keeping the past record in mind Knicks’ are 14-5 in this season with Stoudemire and 10-5 when he is out. They can inflict a dent in the next game as Melo will own the post areas.
Miami power forward Udonis Haslem acknowledged the fact.
"We've seen what they can do without Amare," Udonis Haslem said. "They're definitely dangerous without him."
However LeBron James showed no concern about Melo, he retained him to just 37% shooting in the 1st 2 games and said that he will be their number 1 priority in the next game as well.
“He's always been our number one priority and he will continue to be our number one priority."
