Miami Heat outlast the Chicago Bulls; win game-4 by 101 – 93 in overtime - Part 1
On Tuesday night, the Miami Heat won game-4 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Chicago Bulls to go 3-1 up in the series. A gruelling contest that saw the lead changing hands and being tied 14 times each, failed to produce
a result in regulation time and the matter had to be settled in overtime. In the extra five minutes, the Heat were a little too hot to handle as they romped to a 101 – 93 win to the delight of a packed American Airlines Arena.
LeBron James and Chris Bosh were Miami’s main men responsible on the night. LeBron led all scorers with 35 points. He also had six assists and six rebounds and 3 blocks. Chris Bosh was aggressive throughout the game and had 22
points to go along with 6 boards. Dwyane Wade had a night to forget, managing just 14 points of 5-of-16 shooting. Wade had just 8 points in the first half and had the same number at the end of regular time as he went scoreless for the whole of the second half,
before redeeming himself with 6 in overtime.
After the game, Wade said he was pleased that he came through at the end, "My teammates kept telling me that I would make the biggest play of the game,” he added. “They told me to stick with it, stick with it - and I did. The game
is not won in the first minute, it's won in the last so I stuck with it and was able to do some things to help us get a victory."
Derrick Rose’s post season shooting struggles continued tonight as he made only 8-of-27 shots from the field. Rose still had a team high 23 points, while also making 6 assists, but he would not have been happy with his performance
as he turned the ball over 7 times.
Derrick had able support tonight from the likes of Luol Deng and Carlos Boozer. Both players scored 20 points each, with Deng also making 3 steals and grabbing 8 rebounds. Boozer completed his double-double with 11 boards. Joakim
Noah had a good night too with game high 14 boards and 6 assists to boot.
Chicago started better and got ahead early on. With 5:36 left in the first quarter, the Bulls went on an 8-0 run that took the gap to 11 points. LeBron James then responded for the Heat and scored the last eight points of the period,
cutting the lead to 3 and ending it at 16 – 19.
Miami took the initiative in the second quarter and made a 7 – 1 sprint at the start to take the lead. Chicago immediately hit back and levelled the scores at 28-28 with 9:10 remaining. However Miami weren’t in a mood to relinquish
the lead and they scored 9 straight from there to take a nine point lead. Then it was Chicago’s turn to mount a charge and they went 12-3, levelling the score once more with 2:03 left to play. After some more back and forth action the first half came to an
end at 46 – 44, advantage Bulls.
