Miami Heat shooting guard Dwyane Wade makes it through practice session; eases fears of injury
On Monday, Miami Heat shooting guard Dwyane Wade participated in a full training session with his team, allaying growing fears about his shoulder injury. The Heat will host the game-1 of the best-of-seven NBA final series on Tuesday
night at American Airlines Arena.
In addition to Wade, all 15 players were available for the full practice session. Forwards Udonis Haslem, Mike Miller, and James Jones, who had sat out practices recently for preventative reasons, also rejoined the crucial practice
session.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra however clamped down on the physicality of the session to prevent any untoward injury before the ultimate series of the season.
Spoelstra said, "Guys were hitting a little too hard." "A little bit too amped up."
Wade has been struggling with a slight discomfort in his surgically repaired left shoulder off late. He often seen placing a heat pad on his shoulder during the Conference Finals and also had a medical staff stretching his shoulder
in game-4. The 2006 NBA Finals MVP had skipped the practice sessions for the last two days to take a complete rest for the upcoming mega event.
Media surrounded Wade right after the practice session in Miami to get updates on his shoulder injury and he once again made it clear that there is no major issue and he is not hurt.
Wade was satisfied with his practice and said, "Needless to say, this is one of the most anticipated practices for us all since training camp ... because this is the opportunity — this is the time where not a lot of people on our
team have been." "Not a lot of guys have been to the finals."
D-Wade is well aware of his importance in the finals and therefore taking extra care of himself and his shoulder nowadays. He takes fish oil after games to keep to his joints healthy.
It is quite evident from Wade’s statement that he is fine and all set to make his first appearance in the NBA Finals since 2006. Many changes have taken place since. He is no longer the lone offensive threat and the ball carrier.
Now, he has the company of LeBron James and Chris Bosh. He is a co-captain of Miami and plays a very vital role as an offensive leader.
However, there were signs of fatigue during the thrilling Eastern Conference final series, where his numbers dropped significantly. He missed many important dunks, had turnovers and failed to create an impact. He scored his series-low
14 points in the fourth game of the conference finals. In addition to that, he committed nine turnovers in the fifth game of the series, tying Heat’s postseason record.
In spite of his mediocre performance in the conference finals, the seven-time NBA All-Star has the capacity to repeat the performance, he showcased in the monumental series against the Mavericks in 2006 finals.
