Miami Heat star Chris Bosh trying to stay positive about NBA lockout
The NBA labour dispute is not showing any signs of resolving any time soon, yet there is one man who is keeping a positive mindset about the whole scenario. Chris Bosh said in a recent interview that no one wants to see games being
missed and he was hopeful a resolution will be reached soon.
Bosh plays for the Miami Heat and is part of their famed “Big Three”. On the court, he forms arguably the strongest and most talented trio in NBA basketball with LeBron James and Dwyane Wade and they almost proved that last season.
He and the Heat went all the way to the NBA Finals where they lost out to the spirited Dallas Mavericks.
However, it was only the first season together for Miami’s three super stars and the team is confident they can do better next season. So it is particularly frustrating for Bosh and his teammates that the 2011-2012 season is under
threat of being called off due to the NBA lockout.
The lockout began on July 1st due to the expiration of the old Collective Bargaining Agreement or CBA. NBA owners and NBA Commissioner David Stern want to make sweeping changes in the new CBA, but the players are vehemently
opposing them. The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) filed a complaint against the league on the charge of negotiating in bad faith and the league itself recently sued the union in a federal court.
The two sides have failed to come to an agreement despite over a year of formal negotiations. Now things seem to be worse than ever with the lockout imposed and a recent scheduled meeting being called off.
Still, Bosh is a positive person and the Miami Heat power forward is not willing to give in to despair just yet,
“Well I mean usually I am more of a…I’m always looking at the brighter picture. I’m always positive. I have a positive outlook on everything. I think everybody just needs to talk. There’s always issues especially in business. This
is a business at the end of the day. We don’t want to hurt our fans by them missing games and I don’t think anyone wants to miss games. We just have to get everything on the table and kind of come to a middle ground, but sometimes it’s difficult. Business
is always difficult and I’m sure we’ll get to a solution very quickly.”
Bosh made some good points in his interview and he is not the first of Miami’s Big Three to have shown faith in the process. Earlier LeBron James too had shown optimism and expressed hope that the NBA lockout will end without games
having to be cancelled.
Whether their views are shared by the decision makers is another matter entirely.
