Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade vows to play ‘somewhere’ during the lockout - NBA Update
The mercurial shooting guard of the Miami Heat, Dwyane Wade is constantly on the move.
After the loss to the Dallas Mavericks in the National Basketball Association Finals last season, the leading scorer of that series has toured many countries. This includes endorsement trips to China; fashion shows in Europe along
with a photo shoot in New York. It seems like he has decided to enjoy life for the time being. However that is not the only thing that he has decided upon.
During his recent visit to New York, Wade told that, "I'm going to play basketball this year. I don't know where, but I love the game so much that I will play it. And we will figure that out."
Just like the other big stars of the league, Wade is also not in a hurry to a sign a contract overseas. Wade will only play abroad if the lockout engulfs the entire next season. Earlier, there were strong rumours swirling in the
league that a Chinese team had offered Wade $2 million per month salary.
However, later Wade shot down the rumour, when he made it absolutely clear that no one had approached him. At the same time though, Wade reiterated that if any international team will approach him, he will definitely consider the
option.
Wade also believes that China has more market potential as compared to the rest of the regions. The Chinese teams are offering more money and more playing minutes as compared to the already squeezed out European teams.
Wade also agreed with the notion that after the last meeting between the NBA owners and the players association, there is little scope of the season starting on time. His views were in contrast his close friend and team-mate LeBron
James, who is still positive about the next season taking place.
"I understand why LeBron said it. At the end of the day, we are in negotiations. And you know how negotiations work. In the 11th hour, it can look like nothing's going to happen. In the 12th hour, we can have it happen. You have
to prepare like we're going to have to be ready for training camp in the first week of October, just like you normally do. So I understand exactly what he meant. I'm not that positive that it might happen."
