Miami Heat star LeBron James content at staying in the USA during the Lockout – NBA News
LeBron aka King James had previously stated that he will not be interested in making a move abroad for the duration of the NBA lockout and the Miami Heat has reiterated that sentiment during a recent interview. This despite the
fact that LeBron’s esteemed teammates at the Miami Heat, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, have revealed they are open to a move.
The other two in Miami’s “Big Three” are believed to be seeking an opportunity to play elsewhere but LeBron has shown no such inclination so far. LeBron, who is arguably the best basketball player on the planet, is satisfied with
staying in the United States and working on his game.
The Heat forward already works out twice a day and has been in Houston to try and pick up some moves from a legend of the game. Hakeem Olajuwon, the most skilled centre in history, Hall of Famer, NBA Champion and Houston Rockets
legend has been approached by King James to help out with his post game.
LeBron was criticised for his lack of offensive acumen in the NBA Finals and the player believes he can improve in that aspect by training with the likes of Olajuwon rather than playing with a foreign team.
James is also still hoping that despite the negative developments in the labour dispute recently, such as David Stern filing a lawsuit against the player’s union, the NBA season will not be lost.
James said, “I'm optimistic that we will have a season this year, very optimistic.''
The Chosen One could command a huge salary playing abroad due to his star status. A move to a foreign country could also yield commercial rewards for the player as his popularity elsewhere has not suffered as much as it has inside
the United States during the last year.
Beginning from the now infamous “The Decision”, LeBron’s graph in the eyes of anyone but Miami Heat fans has been on a downward trajectory until now. The player is trying to mend some fences after being heavily vilified in the
wake of his non-show at the NBA Finals.
A part of those efforts was perhaps his decision to play in the upcoming 2012 Olympics. LeBron was part of the Redeem Team of the 2008 Olympics and he said he would like to represent his county again if given the opportunity.
“We all love the game of basketball so much,'' James. ''And the love of the game is always going to be there."
''I love representing my country and doing it the way I love to do it and that's playing the game of basketball,'' James said. ''So I would love to be a part of the 2012 team travelling to London and defending our gold medal.''
