Miami Heat superstar LeBron James optimistic about the 2012 NBA season
“I believe there will be a season this year, and I am optimistic players and owners will work toward having a season,”
These were the words uttered by arguably the best player in the league, LeBron James during a press conference in Taipei.
This is the second time he has given an optimistic statement about the next season of NBA. In the recent press conference, he was not only confident about the upcoming season, but he had also reposed confidence in his team, who
lost to Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals last season. He said the team will claim a title in the 2012 NBA season or otherwise in near future.
On July 1, 2011, National Basketball Association imposed lockout on its players when the old contract, the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), expired and nothing could be achieved in negotiations about the next CBA. There is
apparently lot of gap in the demands of players and NBA owners which cannot be bridged quickly.
With the ongoing lockout, things in the world of National Basketball Association are at a standstill. With no trade, negotiations and teams’ workouts sessions, players do not have much to do these days.
Many statements are coming from the players who had decided to play overseas. Even two other players of the trio of the Miami Heat, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh have decided to play in other countries. On the other hand, James, during
the conference said that he had been working out every week to make sure that he will be ready for the next season.
Regardless of the lockout, the Nike Basketball is doing its business. Athletes like Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Dwyane Wade and Chris Paul who are linked with the brand are travelling to different places around the globe endorsing
it.
King James has joined this league recently. He is on his eight days journey of four cities, and Taipei is the first stop. Chengdu, Xi’an and Shanghai will be his next destinations.
He had done a lot of charitable work in the past and currently in Taipei, he had two training sessions with the two groups of children from Eden Social Welfare Foundation. This foundation provides services to the disabled and other
deprived groups of the country. Selected children had a warm up with coaches after which James joined them in dribbling and shooting.
