Miami Heat to steal another key player of the Cleveland Cavaliers?
A dynasty certainly has been born as the notorious George Steinbrenner who is the owner of Miami Heat has drafted Zydrunas Ilgauskas into the team. George said that the Heat was in dire need of a big man, and certainly Zydrunas was the perfect fit for the role. Zydrunas stands at 7 feet 3 inches and weighs 118 kilograms. He played for the Cleveland Cavaliers last year before becoming a free-agent.
Zydrunas was traded last year to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Antawn Jamison but the Cavaliers wanted him back and signed him on again. But recently Zydrunas decided he needed a change when he explained, “It was very tough, and I love Cleveland. At the end of the day, I decided that Miami is the best place for me to win a ring”.
Zydrunas Ilgauskas has an average of 13.8 points and 7.7 rebounds over the long course of his career which began in 1994. Despite his poor performance in the last season with only 7.4 points per game along with 5.4 rebounds per game, he is still considered amongst one of the best offensive rebounders in the NBA. Critics blamed Shaquille O’Neal for Zydrunas’s poor performances because Shaquille took of his minutes after he joined the Cleveland Cavaliers.
He is reportedly to join the Heat for a minimum of what a veteran should get. The Miami fans are ecstatic about Ilgauskas because he filled in the empty centre spot which the team was struggling to fill. Ilgauskas can certainly contend with centres like Pau Gasols, Andrew Bynums and Dwight Howard.
The fact that it just keeps getting better for the Miami Heat, it’s like they have already dominated the National Basketball League without even playing a single game with amazing players sitting on the roster like LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade.
Miami Heat recently announced that they have signed onto a shooting threat Mike Miller who played for the Washington Wizards last season. The South Dakota Native was drafted as the No. 5 pick exactly a decade ago by the Orlando Magic as the 6foot 8inch player has had a good career averaging 12.0 Points Per Game (PPG).
It is also rumoured that Dexter Pittman will be given minutes on the court by the Miami Heat if he decides to shed a few pounds. Although the player was drafted this year in the second round, General Manager Pat Riley of the Miami Heat sees a lot of potential in the rookie. Jarvis Varnado, who was also drafted in the second pick by Miami, is known to be prolific shot-blocker at college. He has an average of 4.7 blocks per game with scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Da’Sean Butler who played for the West Virginia College as a Guard/Forward was drafted by the Miami Heat in the second round. However, had he not been injured right before the drafting season, he would have been in round one. Butler made his career high by scoring 26 points in his senior year with 6 rebounds.
Miami Heat does not need to add anymore players to their roster as it comprises of many stars, but if they bring back Udonis Haslem and a few other role-players to the court it will surely add strength to the indestructible team.
Miami is certainly the most envied team in NBA right now due their tremendous luck in drafting. However, all this signing and drafting could play against them as other good players might start complaining about the fact they don’t get enough time on the court because James, Dwyane and Chris are likely to get all the attention and minutes on the court, creating a feud amongst the teammates.
However, from the looks of it, and how all the media outlets are praising Miami Heat for their accomplishments, the team does seem to be strongest at the moment and players desperately want to join Miami because everyone is banking on the thought that the next NBA championship will definitely be won by the Miami Heat.
