Miami Heat withstand Rondo’s career night to take a 2-0 lead in the series against the Boston Celtics

Boston Celtics put up a resilient effort in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Miami Heat in a hope to even up the series at 1-all. However, their effort just came up short by 4 points as the Heat took this one
115-111 in overtime to take a 2-0 lead in the series.
Rajon Rondo was spectacular in the game and despite playing for 53 minutes in this one, never showed signs of giving up. He finished the game with 44 points which included all 12 Boston points in the overtime.
The lack of offense from the rest of the team in the crucial extra time turned out to be the main cause of Boston’s demise. Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen who finished the game with 18 and 13 points respectively did not score a single
point in extra time. The absence of Paul Pierce also hurt the C’s. Pierce could only watch from the bench as his team struggled without him. He had 21 points to his name before getting fouled out of the game in the final minute of fourth quarter.
On the other hand, Dwyane Wade came up with some spectacular plays for the Miami Heat and recorded 8 points in extra time to finish the game with 23 points. He also had 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the game.
LeBron James only managed to score 4 points in the extra period but his most key contribution may have come while distributing the ball. He dished the ball to Udonis Haslem with 1:28 on the clock to help Miami take a 2 point lead.
Haslem finished the game with double-double figures of 13 points and 10 rebounds.
On the night both teams fought very hard on the glass as they collected 42 rebounds each in the game. They had a low number of 8 turnovers in the game but the most crucial TO came from the Boston team in the extra period when Mario
Chalmers stole the ball away from Garnett, going down the other way to feed Wade in transition for an and-one play.
The heart of the entire city of Miami would have stopped when Wade missed the first free throw before getting the second one to go at the 2.2 seconds remaining to give his team a 4 point lead. However that turned out to be good
enough as Allen missed a three pointer on the other end and the clock ran out.
