Miami Heat won't be granting an all-expense-paid trip to Heat fan
Matthew Bellamy was forced to be escorted out of Progressive Field last July when the sports fan wore a LeBron James Miami Heat Jersey to a Cleveland Indians game. And despite what the
sports fan has been saying, it turns out that Bellamy won’t be getting an all-expense-paid trip to Miami to take in a Heat game after all.
Bellamy recently posted on his Facebook account that he had been invited to Miami by the team to take in the Heat's next home game against the New Jersey Nets on Saturday 6 November as
a way to reward a passionate fan. But now the Heat have reneged on the offer.
"An invitation was prematurely extended to [Bellamy] prior to the approval process being completed," according to a recently released statement by the team. "Once management became aware
of this, it was decided that this is not something we wanted to do."
Bellamy posted on Facebook that he was invited to attend a Heat game, with “all expenses paid for," and that he would get to meet the players in “a night named after me.” The Heat have
denied his claims.
The MLB game on 28 July against the New York Yankees came just 20 days after James humiliated Clevelanders on national television when he announced he would be leaving the Cavaliers after
seven years to join the Miami Heat. Instead of issuing a press release, James decided to book an hour of prime-time TV on ESPN to announce his intentions in a special entitled “The Decision.” Angry Clevelanders promptly took to the streets, burning numerous
James jerseys. Bellamy and his girlfriend were escorted out of the stadium in the sixth inning after security deemed his safety to be at risk.
James and his new team will make their first trip to Cleveland to play the Cavaliers on 2 December.
