Miami Heat’s Big Three happy to be out of focus – NBA News Update
The free agency is well and truly underway in the NBA and the Big Three of Miami Heat couldn’t be happier about it.
The NBA landscape is changing with each passing minute and Miami are happy that for once, they are not the centre of attention.
The talk today is about Dwight Howard moving to the Los Angeles Lakers, of Chris Paul leaving the New Orleans Hornets or about some other high profile trade happening anywhere but in Miami. The Heat, are all quiet, they are not hunting down big names and they are not making drastic changes to their roster.
That is in fine contrast with last season, when the Miami Heat became a violent centre of the NBA universe for their stupendous acquisitions in the free agency. Not only did Miami succeed in resigning super star guard Dwyane Wade, they also got their greedy paws on two times MVP LeBron James and multiple times All-star Chris Bosh.
That made everyone in Miami really happy, and everyone outside Miami pretty upset. What followed was intense scrutiny from before the season started to after it ended. The Heat didn’t enjoy it, the Big Three didn’t enjoy it and they are pleased that they don’t have to go through the same experience once again.
"I don't think anything can be as bad as it was last year," Heat forward LeBron James said Monday.
Chris Bosh was pleased too. He was happy that this time around Miami didn’t have to worry about a media storm and could focus their attention on the basketball side of things.
"Look around. You remember how it was last year -- it's nothing close," Bosh said. "This year, we can concentrate on just building our team. We can concentrate on picking up where we left off. I think that's huge for us. We know what to expect. There's nothing really surprising us right now and we can just work on focusing to get better."
The Heat suffered visibly due to the turmoil caused by negative attention coming their way, but they also hit a lot of snags because of matters inside the club. The team was very new and had two super stars come in who had to be acclimatized to the way they played basketball. In the early stages of the season, they struggled to find their rhythm and get in sync.
Dwyane Wade is hoping that wouldn’t be the case this time around.
"Guys know each other a little more, just a little bit more familiarity," Wade said. "Last year was just about seeing -- seeing what can happen. Obviously time helps everyone. It's only our second year together.
