Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade has apologized to Kobe Bryant for NBA All Star Game foul – NBA Update
Miami Heat super star Dwyane Wade revealed that he has apologized for a hard foul to Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant. The foul took place in the NBA All Star Game.
Kobe Bryant looked on his way for an easy basket when Dwyane fouled him. The act was pretty unusual for an All Star Game, where players don’t use such tactics to prevent their opponents from scoring. Wade tried to wrap his arms around Bryant and ended up
hitting him on the nose.
The contact caused Bryant to stop mid play and soon he was caught in the cameras with a bloodied nose. Wade has said he didn’t intentionally foul Bryant hard and that he has apologized to the Lakers super star since the incident.
Wade first reached out to Bryant after seeing the bloodied nose and said that he sent him a message after the game as well to make sure there was no ill feeling.
Dwyane has come under criticism from sections of the media and people have questioned his wisdom on the foul. The Heat star though maintains that he did not intend to cause Bryant any harm, and having cleared things up with the Lakers guard, doesn’t feel
like he needs to justify himself to anyone else.
"I don't care what I'm portrayed as," Wade said after the All-Star break. "It's unfortunate, obviously. I don't want to ever hurt anybody in this game, especially on a freak play like that. It's unfortunate. I send my apologies. But it's not intentional.
If it's something I did intentionally, it'd be a different story."
"D-Wade didn't, at all, go for a hard foul," Teammate LeBron James said. "He went to wrap his arms up and accidentally hit him in the nose. ... He meant to foul him but he didn't mean to hard-foul him like that."
Wade isn’t the only Miami Heat star getting bad press after the All Star Game. Forward LeBron James has also suffered from the fallout of a bad play he made right at the end of the game.
With time expiring and the Eastern Conference team within a shot of tying up the game, James decided not to take a shot and instead tried to pass on the responsibility. His effort though was foiled by the West’s Blake Griffin, who then proceeded to make
a free throw and helped his side clinch the win.
The media have since hounded LeBron on what they perceive as another incident highlighting his weak mentality in the clutch. James was heavily criticized for vanishing in the fourth quarter throughout last year’s NBA Finals defeat to the Dallas Mavericks.
