Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade misses Tuesday practice session due to sore knee – NBA Update
Just when the Miami Heat entered a crucial phase in the battle for the Number 2 spot in the National Basketball Association Eastern Conference, they lost another player due to injury. This time it is Dwyane Wade, as he got injured on Sunday night in the
game against the New Jersey Nets. Travis Outlaw of the Nets, accidentally kneed Wade's thigh while rushing to the rim during the first quarter.
Wade returned to the game after the break, but his knee was quite sore the next day. He remained on the side-line, during the Heat’s practice session on Tuesday and spent most his time talking to the team President Pat Riley. That was the main work-out he
had all day.
Wade missed the training session and gave a break to his sore right quadratics. His inclusion in the final line-up for the Heat's home game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday is doubtful.
Wade said, "I'm going to see how I feel. I'm going to be day to day. I'm going to get treatment and therapy and make a decision tomorrow."
Now the play-offs are just one and a half weeks away, Wade will have to consider whether he will take time off to let the potentially nagging injury heal or continue to assist the Heat in their battle for play-off positioning.
At present, the Heat is leading the Boston Celtics by a half-game for the Number 2 position in the East. The Heat will take on the Celtics this Sunday at home.
Wade said, "We're battling for [No.] 2 right now, you want to be out there. You also want to make sure going down the stretch with the playoffs coming and big games this weekend that you make the right decision."
The Heat is expected to reach a bigger decision in the next 24 to 48 hours that might not engross Wade. However, according to some sources, the team is seriously making an allowance for signing free-agent Eddy Curry for the remaining of the season. Curry
looked a better option for the Heat and is waiting for a reply from them.
However, the Heat will have to vacate a position to make space for Curry, who has not participated this season and played only 10 games, all with the New York Knicks in the past three. Currently he is in Chicago and working out with instructor Tim Glover.
Curry is working hard to get in shape, so he can give some late-season help.
The Heat are taking this decision, because they are not getting any encouraging signs from their injured forward Udonis Haslem, who is still recovering from foot surgery. Haslem went along with the Heat on their last four-day road trip. However, he experienced
soreness during the work-outs and ended up reducing the intensity of the training sessions.
