Miami Heat’s LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh spark team's brilliant run in NBA
To say that the Miami Heat have been playing well of late, is a huge understatement. Miami have won five-straight games and are now 8–1 in their last nine games. The reason for this recent surge has been some outstanding play from the Heat’s
Big Three.
LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh have been putting up phenomenal numbers during the past nine-game stretch. Wade filled up the stat sheet and recorded some very impressive numbers on Friday against the Philadelphia 76ers. He finished
with 39 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists, five blocks and three steals.
LeBron on the other hand, has been a perpetual stat-machine ever since he came into the league. He posts near triple-double numbers on a consistent basis and has made a huge contribution to the Heat’s success throughout the season.
From his 43 points against Atlanta on 18 March, to a near triple-double with 19 points, eight boards and nine assists against the Lakers on 10 March, King James has been playing like a new breed of small forwards. He posts up, hits the three-ball,
is unstoppable on the drive and neatly wraps it all up by playing in the point-guard role from time to time as well.
That makes up two-thirds of the strongest three-man combo in the National Basketball Association (NBA); the last component is Chris Bosh.
While he complained about not getting enough touches early in the season, Bosh has recently been on a roll.
The third and final component in Miami’s arsenal, Chris Bosh was considered by some as too weak to play the centre position. However, Bosh has recently found his form and answered his critics, as he has averaged 21.8 points and 10 rebounds during
the Heat’s recent win streak.
For someone like Bosh these numbers wouldn’t be too impressive, but consider the fact that he plays with two of the most prolific scorers to ever play in the league, and the enormity of his contributions suddenly come into perspective.
The Heat have had big nights before, but the game against the Houston Rockets on Sunday broke all records. It was the first time in 50 years that three players from the same team posted 30 points and 10 rebounds in a game. LeBron, Wade
and Bosh combined for 94 points, 33 rebounds and 15 assists on the night.
LeBron had 33 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Wade managed 30 points and 11 rebounds, while Chris Bosh scored 31 points and pulled in 12 rebounds for the Miami Heat.
Coach Erik Spoelstra was also all praise for his superstars and their performance. He said, "That's what makes great players special. They can be great during the year and still find another gear and another level to go to. I think that's
what you're seeing with those three guys."
The Rockets, as a team could only manage to grab 33 rebounds in the contest, the same as the tally for the Big Three combined. They also accounted for 15 of the total 16 assists for the Heat.
It was total domination by the three superstars. Well, almost. The only other sizable effort from the Heat came from guard Mike Bibby, who went 4-for-5 from beyond the arc to rain yet more heartache on the Rockets.
Chris Bosh, who had been criticised by everyone for following LeBron to Miami, was pleased with the way the team was playing and his role in the squad.
