Miami Heat’s draft pick Norris Cole heaps praise on LeBron James after a combined workout – NBA News
In this year’s draft, Miami Heat roped in a point guard by the name of Norris Cole. Cole didn’t get to meet his teammates and have a formal induction into the side because of the NBA lockout, but he did get to meet super star LeBron
James very recently. Now, the youngster has spoken about his first contact with the larger than life “King James.”
Norris was drafted out of Cleveland State University and lives in the same area. LeBron called him up one day and asked him whether he would like to make a trip to Akron and work out with his new teammate. Norris made the trip.
James reportedly welcomed him to the team, he told Norris how it was in the NBA and what the Miami Heat were about. They also ran drills together. Overall it was a very exciting time for Cole and the youngster spoke in glowing
terms about the Chosen One.
"He welcomed me to the family, the Miami Heat family. He found out I was in the area. He asked if I wanted to come work out. He said I could come work out any time he's in the area, and I said, 'OK,' and I took advantage of
it. It was good just to see how he worked out, how serious he takes the game. Reaching out, it shows how sincere of a person he is, of a teammate he is."
The incident just shows that LeBron has a more human side to him which has not been portrayed enough by the media or his P.R team. It also shows how serious LeBron takes his team and his teammates and how he is willing to help
them out.
For Norris, it shows that Miami don’t intend for him to be just another face on the bench. The youngster was drafted by the Heat because it was painfully clear they were short of quality, and options, at the point guard position.
A bruised, broken and way too slow Mike Bibby just wouldn’t cut it anymore.
The man who is expected to be the starting point guard for Miami next season is Mario Chalmers. He too got a hold of Norris, the man likely to be his understudy for at least a few years, in a pro-am game. The Heat duo even played
together in the same team and Norris enjoyed himself.
"It was great meeting him, it was my first time meeting him. We got along real well, made some good plays together out there on the court."
Although the two of them are unlikely to be on the court at the same time for the Heat, building up some chemistry can only be good for the team.
