Miami Marlins' skipper Ozzie Guillen rejects rumours of possible termination – MLB News
Struggling at bottom of National League East, the Miami Marlins’ manager Ozzie Guillen is showing optimism on late rumours of his possible termination.
He has rejected all those rumours and speculations which are currently floating in the Major League that he might face the music of not being able to lift the Marlins’ performance in the 2012 Major League Baseball season.
“That’s the last thing going through my mind every day, I never worry about my job. Never did. Three-year contract. One-year contract. No contract. I don’t, I’m gonna have a job, I don’t know if it’s managing the Marlins. But I will have a job,” Guillen said with confidence as he told the media all possible aspects which caused the Marlins to struggle with poor results.
Guillen added, “You know why? Because we’re in last place. Leyland didn’t do what he’s supposed to do. I didn’t do what I was supposed to do. Bobby didn’t do what he’s supposed to do. There’s a lot of [managers] in last place that they’re not talking about. They’re not supposed to win, either.”
Marlins at the moment are sitting fifth in the National League East Division with a poor 66-85 win-loss record along with a meagre .437 winning percentage.
The Marlins came out high spirited this season when they acquired some heavy signings along with Ozzie Guillen as team head coach. However, it went all wrong when Guillen’s new defensive strategy did not work out.
He did exceptionally well with his former franchise, the Chicago White Sox, as they had some experienced pitchers to tackle the opposing offence.
Guillen tried the same defensive game-play here in Miami but could not gain results from it. He failed in many areas. Firstly, he would have signed more pitchers than hitters while secondly, the more experienced players should have been given the responsibility to play as role models within the roster.
According to some experts, though now Guillen is giving many arguments and views regarding different aspects of Marlins poor outcome, but still his job is in danger as Miami’s top management feels that their new manager is responsible for this poor outcome.
