Miami Marlins’ Carlos Zambrano pays attention to new team – MLB News
The Miami Marlins’ starter Carlos Zambrano stated on Thursday, March 8, that he was paying attention to his new team, saying that he loves his new team-mates. The player who was traded by the Chicago Cubs is known for being someone unconventional in the
game.
"I'm just paying attention to that I'm with a new team, they love me here and I want to be here," he said after finishing his running in the outfield.”
For the contract to work out with the Miami Marlins, the team paid $15.5 million to the Cubs out of $18 million. The decision seemed a perfect deal for the Marlins as the pitcher possesses remarkable talent and force to outweigh any rival at any given moment.
However, what does not go in favour of Zambrano, not very uncharacteristic of him, is the anger that the pitcher famously has. He loses his cool easily; instances of which are known to both the Cubs as they decided to trade him instead of keeping him with
the team and the Marlins.
However, that aspect has not particularly perturbed the Miami Marlins. The team is heavily relying upon the manager Ozzie Guillen to supervise the player. There are already some encouraging reports about how notably he has changed.
Guillen has his insight to offer on the matter.
"Maybe [the Cubs] let that tiger leave the cage and they couldn't get him back," Guillen said at one point. "That tiger is not going to leave the cage [anymore], I guarantee you. I guarantee you that as soon as he tries to open the cage, I'll be waiting
for [him]."
Thursday’s performance that Zambrano had against New York Mets might not be up to the mark. However, his giving up three runs on three walks did not upset the manager Guillen much who commented that he ‘loved the way ball was coming out of his hands’.
Zambrano’s performance in Cactus League coupled with his behaviour will show to the detractors and critics that he is a changed pitcher; one who is willing to put the past behind and make a new start.
