Miami Marlins’ Gear in high-demand – MLB Update
The Marlins revealed their new logo, new uniform, new ballpark and a new name on Friday, November 11. Now the ‘Miami’ Marlins, a week later, the team is experiencing an astounding response from fans and critics alike. Although people have asserted that the
new outlook is not impressive, the gear sales have continued to soar.
As a matter of fact, the first weekend sales of the gear equalled 17 percent of what the Marlins were able to sell during this past season. A major reason for this surge in popularity has been the aggressive approach of the management. After indicating an
all-out approach initially, the management has now extended initial offers to Albert Pujols, Jose Reyes and Mark Buehrle. Although the details of these offers are still not certain, it is generally believed that the amount offered is substantial and will inflate
the payroll for the next year.
Team President David Samson was overwhelmed by the response he has got thus far and described the popularity as “staggering”. The T-shirts and caps bearing the team logo are proving to be quite popular among fans and it will be beneficial for the team in
strengthening the roster.
With just over a week into the new look, the team has already earned a lot of fames. There are no big names in the current roster, but the anticipation of big names coming to the ballclub is initiating a buzz among the players. Hanley Ramirez has been in
the news of late and is currently the centre of attention. The shortstop of Marlins is expected to move to third base if Reyes signs, but Ramirez has stressed that the management has not spoken to him in this regard and he will continue to consider him as
shortstop.
Explaining the trend of sales, Samson stated that the red-orange and black hats are the highest selling items along with the batting practice jersey. The president asserted that the ticket sales are expected to be much higher and thus a lottery might be
conducted to sell tickets that are not sold to those who purchase season-tickets.
