Miami Marlins’ Josh Johnson is least concerned about trade rumours - MLB Update
As the trade speculations surface about the Miami Marlins’ starter Josh Johnson, he is least concerned about what is going to happen with him in the next few days. For him, if he is to be traded, he will be regardless of what he feels about it. What is more
important for him is to keep performing at his potential.
For the last few days, the reports are coming that the Marlins have placed the starting pitcher in the trade market. It has been stated that since the Marlins are asking too high in return from the other clubs, the negotiations have stale-mated.
A manager of one of the American League clubs has uttered that the Marlins are not going to trade Johnson unless other organisations accept their demand, which is acquiring top prospects.
Scores of organisations have shown interest in taking Johnson through the trade, despite the fact the pitcher has been unimpressive this year.
As he is unable to witness the run-support from the Marlins’ offence in the season, it is expected that once he starts for the club which possess quality hitters, he can play a crucial role in their success.
Johnson has accustomed to the environment of the baseball, where the business dictates the actions while the emotions are put aside. The starting pitcher has experienced the same situation before. Therefore, if the trade happens this time, he will not make
the big fuss of it.
“Baseball is a business. You learn that quick,” he said. “I learned that after my first season (2005). I was only up here three weeks. I’m hearing guys might be going after this year. I’m thinking ‘no way.’ All of a sudden I comeback next spring training
(2006) and we have a totally different team.”
The pitcher has also explained that despite wishing to be playing for the Marlins the rest of the season, he will be indifferent in case he is sent somewhere else within a few days.
“You hear about it, but it doesn’t matter because if it’s going to happen, it’s going to happen. If not, then I’m still here, which is what I want,” he said.
As the next few days pass, it will be interesting to see whether the Marlins trade him or not.
