Miami Marlins’ Justin Ruggiano almost done for the season with sprained shoulder - MLB Update
A dive during the match against the New York Mets has proven costly for Miami Marlins' centre fielder Justin Ruggiano. His sprained shoulder has made his re-entry into the season improbable.
He has been one of the few players for the Marlins who have stepped up consistently at the plate and brought hits. His exclusion from the team at this moment of the season can be termed as the last nail in their coffin.
Marlins sit at the bottom of the table currently with little hope that their fate is going to change until the end of the season.
As the season heads toward conclusion, their performance is turning even worse. While earlier they somehow were winning occasionally, now a situation has reached which can make anyone claim that they have given up.
Regardless of where they stand at the table, they cannot lose sight of the next year. Preparations for the upcoming season require their players to gain some momentum prior to Spring Training. In order to avoid the nightmarish shows from happening again,
getting the confidence back is extremely important.
Ruggiano has been among the most successful batters of the Marlins. Along with Giancarlo Stanton, he has turned out to be a player to look up to when it comes to hammering home-runs.
While most of the decisions the Marlins took with regards to signing contracts during the off-season with players back-fired. The move of acquiring Ruggiano through trade from the Houston Astros has paid immediate dividends.
Ruggiano, since joining the Marlins has posted a sharp increase in his batting average. He is hitting currently .313 which is far better than his career batting average of .277.
He has contributed RBIs on regular basis. In some occasions he has lifted the teams’ offence single-handedly.
Although his return in the season is uncertain, Miami will be extremely pleased with the fact that they have in their line-up a hitter now who can help their offence for years to come.
Ruggiano will be trying to get rid of the issue of sprained shoulder as soon as possible. He will hope to see his power for hitting not affected by it.
