Miami Marlins’ Logan Morrison out of the season as he braces for second knee surgery – MLB Update
The left fielder Logan Morrison will go through another knee surgery in order to fix the patella tendon tear in his right knee as it has become unavoidable now.
Morrison had the same surgery last year but he has been unfortunate that his problem did not get fixed.
While he underwent the first surgery to play the current season smoothly, it has not been the case as he struggled to eschew the pain in his knee from day one.
He has been instructed to rest for three weeks now before the Doctors will examine him to check what kind of treatment his plagued knee will require.
With this, the Marlins will be playing the rest of the season without another hitter. Offensively, they are already short of options. With Omar Infante and Hanley Ramirez traded before the deadline, their offence suffers serious loop-holes.
Currently, only Jose Reyes and Giancarlo Stanton are carrying out bulk of the job for the team when it comes to offence. The remaining hitters perform only occasionally. Unfortunately, whenever the Marlins need someone from the line-up to step up and cut
into the opposition’s one or two runs lead, their hitters succumb to the pressure and fail more often than not.
In light of this, the confirmation that Morrison’s time in the season has come to an end is a bad omen for the team. Unless the batters assume a greater role and make up for the loop-holes with extraordinary performances, the slump by the Marlins’ offence
is going to last.
Meanwhile, Morrison is disheartened after listening from the doctor that the surgery is inevitable.
"It sucks a lot," Morrison said. "Disappointed. That 10-game road trip felt like a month, not being able to hang out with the guys and being on the field, screaming at the TV every night. It sucks, but we have to get it right and be healthy for once. I haven't
been healthy the last two years."
Furthermore, he comments on the necessity of the surgery.
"He definitely think I'm going to need surgery," said Morrison. "Barring a miracle, I'll have to have surgery again."
Morrison will hope that the second surgery eliminates his knee problem once and for all and helps him play the next season comfortably.
