Miami Marlins’ Logan Morrison pessimistic about comeback in the season - MLB Update
The Miami Marlins’ left fielder Logan Morrison’s injured right knee has been evaluated by the doctors now. They have instructed him to endure inflammation for three weeks and see it subsiding before they will decide on surgery. This means that it is highly
unlikely that the left fielder will appear in the season again.
The Marlins are fed up with the reality of watching their hitters failing in almost every game. Apart from Jose Reyes and Giancarlo Stanton, there is no one left in their line-up which can be relied upon with regard to achieving the consistent run support.
What adds to the woes of the Marlins is the trading of the players like Hanley Ramirez and Omar Infante from their line-up. It has weakened their offence further.
Therefore, in any game which does not see Stanton or Reyes striking hits, the rest of the offence will not rally to make up for one or two bad days that they may suffer.
Regardless of how their pitchers perform, the Marlins' line-up lacks the hitters that can convert better shows on the mound from them into victories.
In light of this, Morrison’s likely absence from the whole season is like the last nail in their coffin.
So far Morrison has posted a .230 batting average and the .308 on-base percentage. He has managed 11 home-runs and 36 RBIs in the season. In this regard, his outage from the season is a huge loss for Miami.
Meanwhile, Morrison says the possible surgery and the swelling will make it extremely difficult for him to appear in the field again in the season. He is certainly disappointed and least hopeful to return.
“If you’re doing surgery and there’s swelling in the knee, it makes it hard,” Morrison said. “It creates more scar tissue. He wants to wait and let that go down and get it as healthy as possible before doing surgery.”
However, it has been reported that following the surgery he will be in a better position to become a regular partner in the line-up.
Morrison will be going through the process of rehabilitation in the next couple of months. The Marlins will hope that once Morrison returns, his production will not decline.
