Miami Marlins activate right fielder Giancarlo Stanton from disabled list – MLB News
Miami Marlins have activated right fielder Giancarlo Stanton from the 15-day disabled list. Stanton played 21 games before he was sidelined due to a right hamstring strain.
The 23-year-old hitter missed 36 games in the season owing to the injury. He was posting decent numbers before he got injured. He had a batting average of .228 and a .337 on-base percentage.
Mike Redmond, the manager for the Marlins, said that the team will be closely monitoring his progress and see how he feels.
"I think we'll see how he goes and how he feels," Redmond said.
The 6ft 5in hitter is glad to be back in the Majors. He is looking forward to be contributing to the team’s cause.
"I'm just happy that I'm finally here to contribute now," Stanton said. "It's been a long time, and I'm just glad to be here."
Stanton also said that he likes to be on the playing field. He does not like the idea that his body gets sore from playing but feels that he has had enough rest and wants to be on the field not rather than resting.

"I prefer just to be out there, so as long as I don't get extra sore playing a few days in a row, I'd rather be out there than rest. I got enough rest this season."
Mike Redmond feels that it was important to have Giancarlo on the field so that he can get some practice. His form is not a matter of concern.
He has had a bit of time in the Minors but has not had any success. In fact the hitter was unable to get a single hit in 15 at-bats. This will, however, not be a big worry for the Marlins at this point.
"I looked at the reports, and I know he didn't get a lot of hits, but it's more being able to play the outfield and see some pitches," manager Mike Redmond said.
The Miami Marlins will certainly be hoping that he can get into some good form and help the team which is at the bottom of the Major League at the moment.
