Miami Marlins all set to face criticism – MLB News
With the plans of inaugurating the new stadium in 2012, the Marlins have already braced themselves for criticism. The finances spent on completion of the new project may well be one of the reasons why the decision shall see criticism.
Nonetheless, the Miami Marlins president, David Samson has his reasons to offer. What he maintains is that anything new done opens up people for criticism. This, however, should not stop anyone from pursuing the idea.
“Any time you do something new and different, you open yourself up to criticism,” Samson said. “But that's never stopped us before. I think we're always trying to do new things and give fans an experience that they've never had.”
Putting the aquariums was indeed not an easy decision to make, owing to the risks it involves. Nonetheless, the glass which is shatter proof will, to a great extent, minimise the risks that it had. Also important to mention is the fact that the aquariums
have all the mechanisms in place that make it sound-proof.
The glass cannot break even if struck by a baseball which exhibits the sophistication this entire project has in its fold. This initiative was made possible after years of extensive search that the organisers made to add new features in the ballpark.
For Samson, what is also important is good and winning baseball. That alone, can be the biggest attraction for fans and the club plans to succeed through getting the best free-agents available in the market.
“Of course, good baseball and winning baseball is the No. 1 attraction,” Samson added. “That is something we've felt we've accomplished [with some major free-agent signings] this offseason. You put that together with the new ballpark, and we think we may
have created magic. But time will tell.”
It is indeed a matter of time before baseball fans see how the good stadium does its magic. As said earlier, it would be the performance that would set the criterion, not the charming beauty of the stadium alone. What remains to be seen is how the Marlins
stand up to the challenge.
