Miami Marlins beat Arizona Diamondbacks 3-2 breaking six games losing streak - MLB Update
Third baseman, Hanley Ramirez lifts the Miami Marlins in a nail-biter in the bottom of the ninth, taking his side to a 3-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida on April 28.
The Marlins find solace at home. After losing six games in a row, they register a well-fought victory.
It is however never to say their biggest problem that is of their weak offence has disappeared. It was as much palpable as has been in their last few games.
In particular during initial few innings the way they squandered various scoring opportunities, it seems the issue is very much there.
Marlins were scoreless in first six innings before Jose Reyes and Logan Morrison led the charge. A homer by Morrison in the eighth tied the score. Afterwards it was an under-pressure single by Ramirez in the ninth to left that ensured victory for the Marlins.
Jose Reyes went 1-for-2 in the game, adding one RBI.
Anibal Sanchez threw seven innings for the Marlins and struck-out an amazing 14. With his great performance on the mound, he takes his season ERA to an impressive 2.73.
After slumping, Marlins’ manager Ozzie Guillen calls the game as a platform for launching a recovery now. For him, the way players kept the nerves in last few innings marks a great success, which he feels will matter in the games ahead.
"This game was big for us and the way we won it," Ozzie Guillen said. "It was big for the players. It brought their emotion back. Games like that can get you going."
Diamondbacks had their starter doing a great job for them, with one run in little more than six innings. However an inability to draw the same kind of performance from their relievers cost them the defeat.
Notwithstanding the win, the Marlins will do well by not forgetting loopholes they suffer as a team. Taking the win as an enough indicator of good preparations for upcoming games can prove disastrous.
It is an important time for the manager to communicate his strategy for forthcoming games. Since, atmosphere is positive, players will understand it better at this time. Fans will hope the Marlins can live up to their expectations from now onward in the
season.
