Miami Marlins blanked 0-3 by Arizona Diamondbacks as Wade LeBlanc leaks three runs - MLB Update
The Miami Marlins are shut-out by the Arizona Diamondbacks 0-3 as their starter Wade LeBlanc gives up three runs at Chase Field, Phoenix, Arizona on August 22, 2012 in the last match of the four game series.
The slump of the Marlins’ offence continues as throughout the game they struck just five hits on Wednesday. Their shortstop Jose Reyes was the only player who struck hits on the plate comfortably.
Other than him, most of their batters struggled. Far from sending the base-runners aboard, they failed to strike reasonable number of hits on Wednesday.
Furthermore, Giancarlo Stanton was hitless on Wednesday. He is an only player on whom the Marlins can rely for hitting a series of home-runs in one game but he was far from his best on Wednesday. For the same reason, it can be believed that the Marlins did
not see any home-run coming off from their batters in the game.
Wade LeBlanc spent seven innings on the mound. He yielded five hits and allowed three runs. He was the victim of the poor run support as there is every reason to believe that if the Marlins had posted sufficient runs he would have earned the victory.
Marlins’ manager Ozzie Guillen speaks about the ejection he received from the umpire in the game.
"I have been ejected 27 times but that one was a weird one," Guillen said. "The excuse he is going to make is I was throwing water at him. I never did. I just threw water on the field, then some of the players were telling me I got kicked out of the game."
Meanwhile, Marlins’ relievers were scoreless on the mound, which is another indication that a better support from the offence will have rendered them in an ideal position to win the game.
The frailties in the Marlins’ offence are visible in almost every match. Unable to connect hits and handle quality pitches properly, their batters are battling hard on the plate.
For the upcoming games, the Marlins will be looking to witness their hitters stepping up and scoring runs. It will be fascinating to see how they perform in their next series.
