Miami Marlins breached commitments, says Mark Buehrle - MLB Update
Starting pitcher Mark Buehrle is unhappy with his former club, Miami Marlins. As he has been traded by the Marlins to Toronto Blue Jays, he utters that he was made false commitments to by Miami on a number of occasions.
He says that just like the Marlins deceived their fans and spoke lies with them, he was also the victim of their unfair handling of affairs.
Buehrle is now a part of the Blue Jays. While he kept mum as he stayed with the Marlins, he is speaking negatively about the club after being traded from there to Toronto.
He was acquired by the Marlins last year as part of their offseason spending spree. Along with Heath Bell and shortstop Jose Reyes, he was awarded a substantial contract by Miami.
Inclusion of these three players was the basis of the extra ordinary level of optimism shown by the officials of the club.
Marlins thought that they will put up one of the most amazing performances in their history during 2012 regular season. Unfortunately, hopes of their fans met a troubling demise when most of the players of the club floundered in the last season.
Unable to take winning percentage of the team to a respectable level, they kept the Marlins at the bottom half of the Division table throughout the season.
Jeff Berry, an agent of Buehrle, has complained that before hiring the Marlins time-and-again reiterated that they will retain him for a long time period.
Clearly, the agent is spreading the impression that the Marlins do not keep their promises by unveiling the case of Buehrle.
"Throughout the recruiting process, the Marlins made repeated assurances about their long-term commitment to Mark and his family and their long-term commitment to building a winning tradition of Marlins baseball in the new stadium," Berry said.
Buehrle is feeling like being betrayed and ditched. He is finding it hard to accept the fact that he has been removed from the roster after staying only for one season with the club.
The best Buehrle can do right now is focus on the upcoming season and find ways as to how he can help Toronto in their campaign next year.
