Miami Marlins confront dilemma of injuries ahead of the 2012 regular season - MLB Update

Their performance in Spring Training aside, players’ injuries surfacing everyday are going to put the club in to taking tough decisions ahead. Reports suggesting calmness of manager Ozzie Guillen over injuries and his views about likely replacements go only
to aggravate concerns regarding the numbers of players injured.
When it came out that Mike Stanton and Logan Morrison are enduring knee injuries and will not possibly be part of opening day line-up, the manager looked indifferent saying if some players get injured, others will come to the fore and things will keep going
on. While one expected information about their likely comeback, a let down on this front points to a deeper problem of injuries the club has.
“If they’re not healthy, that’s their business,” Guillen said. “Somebody has to be out there. I’m not losing sleep because of that. Nope.”
Greg Dobbs, an infielder, is another player struggling with a hamstring and is unsure of when he will return to the season or whether he will appear there at all.
One needs to remember a fact that last time largely low scoring ability of Marlins resulting from injuries of their hitters hurt their overall performance.
As Dobbs hit eight home-runs last season, extremely better numbers especially in light of the fact club suffered draught of homers in 2011 and an OBP of .311, his absence will be felt in every game.
Randy Choate has a proven record of being an effective reliever but unfortunately is also uncertain to play during the season. Although scheduled to play against Detroit Tigers on Monday, yet it is unclear if he will be fit enough to play his first Spring
Training game.
Whether replacements will be as effective in case these players do not make it to the side within the time remaining is unknown. Although club possesses players like Jose Reyes and Hanley Ramirez who are all set to rejuvenate club’s high run scoring history
after last year slump, it was an all-round performance from all players that were to take them to new heights this season.
As manager Guillen appears complacent and equally prepared for any eventuality, only time will tell, to what extent the results will be affected. As per their performance in Spring Training, the club looks well-poised to deliver a reasonably better performance.
